Our way or God's way

So....What makes this article different from the other articles you've read? Is it an

attention grabber... a hook... starting with a question? The answer to that question

is an astounding one... a powerful one... the answer is God. I'm sure that may

shock some of you... some of you may have stopped reading there. The ones who

didn't I hope this touches you. I hope this reaches into your soul and makes you

question every decision, in business or elsewhere, that you have ever made. The

God that I'm referring to is the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord has pressed the reset

button on my life, business, and everything in between. Sounds exciting and

frightening at the same time doesn't it? My life has been a wilderness (pun

intended) of which I have circled round and around without ever really moving

forward. No real peace. Just one goal after the other. More wants and the need was

never filled. I was never completely whole. The next question is why? Why has

every decision I have made lead me to the same place no matter how many hours I

worked or how much I clawed and scraped? No matter the blood, sweat, or tears it

was never enough. I couldn't work enough. Something just wasn't right. What I

thought I needed was never filling. It always left me asking if this is what life was

about. What I was looking for and what I needed were two separate things. What I

needed was the truth. The only issue with the truth is that there is only one real

truth. You have truth and lies and that's all there is. Sometimes the “truth” is

what we convince ourselves to be true. The “truth” I believed was that I was in

charge of much more than we actually are. God allowed me to run on and learn a

lot of lessons the hard way. I believed that God had a plan for me but my actions

said the opposite. I made my own plans. I made my own decisions. I convinced

myself that God just expects me to work and take care of what he has given me

and to try to make wise decisions. That's what a man or woman whose responsible

does right?

We live and learn and if your going to be dumb... you got to be tough!

The real questions that we should ask first are these... Lord, what do YOU have

planned for my life? What is your purpose for me? Where do you want me to

work? What are the gifts you have given me and how can I use them for you?

What do you want me to say during this business meeting? Do you want me to

work for this client? Do we ever stop and think that God may have a calendar and

a clock with our name on them with every single day and every second accounted

for? Not only accounted for but planned out with a purpose? These are the

questions that the Lord began to show me in my life my friends and though they're

simple ones.... they're the difference between the straight and narrow...and the

wilderness. I used to think that of course God was watching over me... he knows

where I'm headed and what I'm doing... he told me I have to work and take care of

my responsibilities. The truth is that when we try to define God's word and don't

let him define it in our lives we end up in the wilderness. We end up in the same

cycle over and over again. Why? Because God's Love. He chastens whom he

loves. The Lord has to be the center of your entire world. Not just Sunday's and

Wednesday's but every second of every day. The question is not how do I run my

life or business... Its how does God want me to run my life and business. What

would your life look like if you gave God every second of every day and let him

lead you into every decision? What would your life look like if you asked God

what he wants for you instead of answering that question yourself? This next

question that we should ask is a tough one but... here goes! What if when we

prayed.... we actually waited on God to answer us before we moved?Told you that

was a tough one! The whole point of this article is for you to ask the questions not

only to yourself but to God. To ponder how many decisions we make without ever

bringing it before the one who is the reason we have life at this very moment and

waiting on him to answer us. Not just in business but for every waking moment.

Every conversation, business meeting, meal, morning, noon, night, drive, thought,

and EVERYTHING. We convince ourselves all the time that its up to us to

manage what we have and what we do and we use our own knowledge and

experience to do so. We make decisions and if the outcome is good or to our liking

we relate that to a good decision. If the outcome is bad or didn't go exactly as we

planned we relate that to a bad decision. We consider both outcomes and decide

that the good ones were wise solely based on the outcome. Definition of Wisdom:

the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of

being wise. Lets take a closer look. It states that wisdom is a quality made up of

experience (the things you've done or lived through), knowledge (the things you've

learned through being taught and experiences), and good judgment (contemplating

on the two previous things and using them to make a decision). Does wisdom

come from experience and knowledge? Lets see what God says. Proverbs 2:6 –

For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and

understanding. If we don't take the time to ask him before doing anything, is that

wise? James 1:5 – If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all

men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. Do we not ALL lack

wisdom? Are we not constantly making choices with the hope that there will be a

good outcome from that choice? Yet we have no clue what tomorrow has in store

much less the next second? 1 Corinthians 3:18 – Let no man deceive himself. If

any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that

he may be wise. To become a fool we have to accept that we are already fools in

our ways and hearts. When we begin to see what we are and who God is we grow.

Isaiah 55:8 – For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my

ways, saith the LORD. Do we seek his ways or live and dwell in our own? Last

but not least is 1 Thessalonians 5:17 – Pray without ceasing. Short and sweet but

so very important. When we begin to take everything to God we begin to grow

substantially. We don't just think we made the right choice we KNOW we made

the right choice. These are the truths that the Lord has shown me thus far that are

good and needed for every occasion. I put these scriptures here to answer all the

questions in this article and to ask just a few more. Do you want wisdom? Do you

want to know that you made the right choice? Do you want to know that you are

where God wants you? This is not what I was after at the time... it was what I

desperately needed! Now I know this is not your typical business article... but I

told you at the start... God is what makes this article different. God will make you,

your family, your business, and everything around you different! If we will learn

to put God first in all things... where will HE take us? Lastly my friends... I leave

you with this simple statement of truth for you to carry with you... If we give God

the availability... he will give us the ability! God bless each of you and I pray that

you begin to let God lead your every step in life, home, and business! Till next

time....
